I’ve had the Bohemian Babydoll pattern for some time but I only just got around to finishing this one. It has been on my cutting table for months! Between pattern tests and shop orders, it’s sat around waiting for me for a long time. I finally got to finish it and I’m so pleased!
I made this one from linen and lawn. I hand embroidered the front bodice per my daughter’s request “Purple daisies please!”.
I named it Felicia after the purple daisy.
I also added a pair of long bloomers. My daughter is closing in on 6 and I’m not sure how much longer she can get away with this look, but I’m going to stretch it out as long as I can.
The bloomers are Violette Field Threads pantaloons, modified with elastic and no waist band. My daughter loves these and keeps trying to wear them as pants, which is cute, but not quite right with her tee shirts.
I thought the first on the pattern was really nice. I didn’t size up because I knew the bodice would be sloppy and the arm holes aren’t huge like I thought they would be. I’d seen a lot of other samples in this dress with enormous underarm holes, but I didn’t have that problem. I did sew my back skirt panel on upside down so my hem is even and the sides have a sweet scallop.
Gosh, how I love those bloomers.
